I recently had the sublime pleasure of dining at Sumile where sushi is featured. The atmosphere is serene with low lights and tables spaced as to make privacy and conversation a given.
Service was an added plus with timing just right between courses.
It was obvious that the various dishes: sushi, sashimi and even the green tea and soup courses were carefully prepared and presented aesthetically, but not in a precious or pretentious way.
It is located on a quiet block in the West Village - 13th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues.
I can't wait to go back for more of the same!
